Gem bearings are mainly used in instrumentation. Instrument bearings bear a small load, but to rotate high accuracy, good sensitivity, long service life. Gemstones have small friction, high hardness, corrosion resistance, low coefficient of thermal expansion, high performance of pressure strength, to meet the requirements of the use of instrument bearings. The materials for making gem shafts include corundum, agate, microcrystalline glass, etc. Corundum is the body of alumina, natural and man-made. Natural corundum impurities are more, uneven texture, so artificial corundum is the most widely used.

(1) The cone of the outer circle of the grooved gem bearing shall not exceed one and a half of the allowable deviation of its outer diameter.
(2) The parallelity of the two ends of a slotted gem bearing shall not exceed one and a half of its height allowable deviation.
(3) The verticality of the outer circle of the grooved gem bearing to the bottom face is not greater than 0.005.
(4) The coaxiality of the grooved gem bearing groove and the outer circle: the conical bearing is not greater than 0.02mm, and the spherical bearing is not greater than 0.03mm.
